Tripudio Movement led by Julia Williams
Tripudio is movement with a focus on the fluid systems of the body. Principles from manual lymphatic drainage massage are combined with fascia release techniques and translated into movements. Tripudio classes start and finish with The Lymphatic Flow following the protocol of manual lymphatic drainage with additional focus on balance and the breath.
Tripudio is the Latin word for “Dance” but is also translatable as “Leap with Joy” - that's exactly how we aim to make you feel at this year’s Your life and cancer conference!
A class includes seated and standing segments using a combination of stretching, gentle strengthening and low impact aerobic dances set to music. Exercise is gentle to avoid fatigue with low repetitions making it ideally suited to mixed levels of fitness, each working to their own ability, perfect for those with lymphoedema. Tripudio stretches focus on releasing tension, fascia and scar tissue, all of which are thought to inhibit lymphatic health.
Tripudio is suitable for post-surgical rehabilitation, such as after breast cancer or prostate cancer. Those with chronic illness or pain may also benefit, as may post-natal women. Classes are easy to follow, teach, and fun!
Julia developed the programme in 2011 with her colleague Katherina Hesse with the aim to fill the gap in exercise for those less fit and allow Tripudio to be taught by health professionals, lymphoedema and complementary therapists to enhance their treatments, offer home care and classes.
The Flow is designed for daily practice taking less than 10 minutes it aims to assist lymphatic drainage as well as using the whole body effectively, mobilising and stretching.
This workshop session will enable you to experience The Flow and some other elements of a class and give you more awareness of what Tripudio can offer you.
Julia worked in cancer and palliative care for over 20 years, within the NHS at University College London Hospital within Haematology, Royal Trinity Hospice and Breast Cancer Haven in both London and Wessex. Julia trained as a Leduc MLD therapist and later in Fluoroscopy guided Fill & Flush. Developing Tripudio Movement Systems utilised her experience as a teacher/trainer, therapist, yoga teacher and dance instructor. Julia runs regular training programmes, in person at her studio in Dorset and now also zoom training on-line. Julia has taught Tripudio Movement throughout the UK in hospices and hospitals.
